Pet ownership reached a peak during the pandemic. Despite return-to-work orders and a shift back to pre-COVID-19 life, pet ownership continues to rise.

A recent post on the Inspired Home Show website shares Millennials and Gen Z are driving the most recent uptick, influencing both consumers’ buying decisions and how they live. According to a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA), 94 million households owned at least one pet in 2024, with dogs continuing to be the most popular household pet.
