Business owners do not usually have the time or resources to hold large-scale, in-house events regularly. Instead of adopting a go big mentality, go small with mini events throughout the year.
Smaller-scale events can give regular customers a new reason to stop by and introduce new customers to your store. On the Small Biz Survival site, business blogger Becky McCray shares a list of event ideas that are small but could have a big return on investment. Some of her suggestions include:
- Recruiting anyone who gives lessons to offer a student performance or dedicate space in your store to showcase student work.
- Setting up some tables, chairs, and board games for an informal game night (or afternoon).
- Teaming up with a brewery, winery, or food establishment for a tasting or sampling.
Spread the word with your customers through social media and in-store advertising. As for where to hold it, McCray suggests a space in your business, on your sidewalk, in your parking lot, or an empty adjacent building or rooftop. Be sure to follow any municipal permitting laws.
